Meet The Judge
Ms D. Bartošová (Aldamity) [Slovakia]
Firstly, I would like to thank the Committee for the invitation to judge the Open show of the East Anglian Labrador Retriever Club. Thank you to everyone who made it possible thank you so much. Please let me introduce you to me and my kennel story.
I wasn´t born into a “breeders” family but my whole life has been accompanied by animals. There have always been different animals in my life. However, my greatest love was dogs and horses. My love for animals led me to study veterinary medicine. Although life has arranged it in such a way that today I no longer actively work as a veterinarian but I am still connected to this profession through my dogs and various animals of my friends.
Like many other children, my dream was to have my own dog. I fulfilled my dream in 1994 and chose a Labrador retriever. Labrador was love at first sight for me. My first bitch, Bela Malivy was born in a small hobby kennel. She wasn´t a perfect show dog but she showed me the true Labrador character and abilities. My kennel Aldamity was established in 1995. In choosing a name for my kennel I was inspired by the story of Aldanity who was a racehorse, winner of the Grand National on 4 April 1981. His jockey on that day, Bob Champion, had recovered from cancer, while Aldanity had recovered after suffering a career-threatening injury.
My first litter was born in January 1997. Because I knew how important for next breeding is quality of brood female, in 2002 I imported a yellow female from kennel Attikonak, Sweden. I am so thankful to Mrs. Gunilla Ek for this famous girl. All my dogs (excluding chocolate line) keep her blood in their pedigrees. This female opened up for me a new Labrador world and I have travel a lot with her and her progeny.
Over the years, I’ve bred several interchampions, many national champions, a junior world winner, veteran world winner, world club winner, and females that were successfully presented at the Crufts shows. (Aldamity Keep on Moving 3rd special working, her daughter A. Queen of Hearts 5th in junior class , 2nd in special working, A. One Love 3rd in junior class).
Dogs from my kennel have become guide dogs, assistance dogs, but above all great family members. Thanks to them, my circle of great people has expanded, for which I am extremely grateful.
Over the years, I have travelled with my dogs to many different countries, from north to south, from east to west. They were always useful trips that, gave me an overview of breeding in individual countries, shows and thanks to them I made many new friends.
At the beginning of my breeding, next to Labradors, I also bred three litters of Golden Retrievers. Goldens are still my love and I enjoy judging them at shows.
At the beginning of my breeding, I worked for several years in the structures of the Slovak Retriever Club, where I participated in the organization of shows and work trials. Currently, I am still active in breeding, showing, and working trials with my dogs.
I am an international judge for all retriever breeds and I had the honour to judge at several shows. I am currently continuing my education for other breeds of FCI group VIII. I am also a national judge for some hunting tests for retrievers.
I would not have been able to achieve any of these things if I hadn't had the support from my family. I am very happy that I have so many amazing people around me who constantly support me and without whom I would not have had a chance to fulfill my dreams. I thank them from the bottom of my heart for all that.
Once again, thank you very much for this invitation and I am looking forward to seeing many beautiful dogs and I wish all exhibitors much success.
